"Loaner" Chromebooks cannot be taken out of the classroom. Students who do not bring a charged Chromebook back to school may be able to use a Chromebook from the classroom. Students are expected to charge their Chromebooks nightly at home and bring them to school fully charged. My student forgot to charge their Chromebook (or forgot to bring it). All students must have the Authorized Use Policy (AUP) signed by themselves and a parent before they are issued a Chromebook. Students will be allowed to take the Chromebooks home for school-related use. Will the Chromebooks ever leave the building? Students can add non-permanent identifying items to their assigned case such as ribbons, key chains or other removable items. Any additional markings on the device or its case will be considered vandalism. While the devices are issued to students, they are still district-owned property. No additional permanent markings of any kind (permanent stickers, engraving, permanent ink pen, tape, etc.) shall be placed on the Chromebook or it’s carrying case at any time. Any ID stickers that are on the Chromebook when issued, must stay on the Chromebook. Therefore, if a Chromebook is misplaced, the student can be reunited with the appropriate device. How are student’s Chromebook identified from another student?Įach Chromebook will be tagged with a serial number and assigned to a specific student. There will be a limited number of these "Loaner" Chromebooks in the classrooms, so there may not be available and your student may be without a Chromebook for the day. If a hard reset does not resolve your issue OR your Chromebook shows the error message Chrome OS is missing or damaged, you might need to perform a system recovery. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.Ī system recovery completely erases any local files or settings and returns the computer to its original factory-shipped state. If necessary, press power button again to turn on the laptop. The computer turns off, and then turns on again. Press the power button and refresh button for five seconds. This forces the system to clear and reestablish the software connections between the BIOS and the hardware.Ī hard reset does not remove any local files or settings. If the unit still does not start or exhibits the same problem, go to the next step to perform a hard reset.Ī hard or forced reset erases all information in the computer memory. If the computer starts, reconnect devices one at a time, and restart the Chromebook each time you connect another device to figure out which device is causing the problem. Disconnect all non-essential devices including external hard drives and other similar devices.Īfter you have removed all external devices, turn on the Chromebook. If the Chromebook does not start, remove any USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
